Four research teams from the Vienna University of Technology, University Kassel, Russian Academy of Sciences, and Kiev National Shevchenko University will conjointly undertake three tasks including sub-tasks in the following fields to help to fill some of the gaps:
Task 1: RATIONALITY IN SCIENCE
The picture science produces of the world and the methods by which it does so are questioned in this task.
Sub-Task 1.1: CAUSALITY AND EMERGENCE
Sub-Task 1.2: PRINCIPLES OF SYNERGETICS
Sub-Task 1.3: DESCRIPTION, EXPLANATION AND PREDICTION IN NONLINEAR STUDIES
Task 2: UNIFICATION OF LANGUAGE
An attempt to make proper use of the variety of the languages of the formal and of hermeneutics is undertaken in this task.
Sub-Task 2.1: MODELS AND METAPHORS I: BOUNDARIES OF FORMALIZATION
Sub-Task 2.2: MODELS AND METAPHORS II: THE VISUALIZATION OF THE NON-FORMALIZED
Task 3: VALUES, NORMS, AND THE DYNAMICS OF SOCIETY
Consequences of viewing society as an evolutionary system are made explicit and discussed in this task.
Sub-Task 3.1: INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION, AND CO-EVOLUTION
Sub-Task 3.2: TRANSDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION
Sub-Task 3.3: POLITICAL ASPECTS OF SOCIAL SELF-ORGANIZATION
To exploit and disseminate the allover result of the project a final congress on "Human Strategies in Complexity" to be held in Vienna some months after the end of the project duration is envisaged as well as the publication of a reader. |
