Objective: To explore the conditions that foster the governance of the emerging world-system; to differentiate the notion of self-organization in social systems from the notion of self-organization in natural systems, while recognizing commonalities due to the assumption that both self-organization processes and structures are but expressions and properties of evolutionary systems of different kinds
